With the compulsory Population Exchange of 1923 the Greek Orthodox people of Eastern Thrace, Cappadocia and the Pontos came to Greece as refugees and all those who could brought with them their church treasures. These precious heirlooms illustrate the historical course of the Christians in the Ottoman Empire, while at the same time pointing up the special nature of each region.
